Generation O Launches Thrive Points Pilot Program
On Friday, February 13th, Generation O officially kicked off our new Thrive Points program with two partner organizations: Hushabye Nursery and Jacob’s Hope. Hushabye Nursery and Jacob’s Hope are recovery nurseries, both located in Arizona, that specialize in supporting babies with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) and their families. We are thrilled to be partnering to deliver Generation O programming to their “graduates.”
Generation O at Hushabye Nursery to launch our newest program supporting new caregivers of opioid-exposed babies.
Thrive Points is an innovative new program designed to arm caregivers with the information they need to care for their opioid-exposed child, while also giving them tangible resources to support them on their journey. It is an incentive-based educational program. As caregivers access educational content, they earn “Thrive Points.” At the end of the program, they can exchange these points for items for their baby. These items are selected by Generation O to meet the developmental and care needs of opioid-exposed babies. The program is provided at no cost to families and no cost to the nurseries. Between both nurseries, our goal is to serve at least 100 caregivers over the next six months.
How it Works
When caregivers are discharged from Hushabye or Jacob’s Hope, they will receive information about the Thrive Points program along with a small welcome gift. Once they register, they will receive access to a 17-module online course. This course covers everything from short-term symptoms like inconsolability and feeding difficulties, to the importance of Early Intervention and what to watch out for in the long-term. At the end of the course, caregivers earn their “Thrive Points,” which can be exchanged for approximately $100 worth of items for their baby. Available items range from sleep sacks and white noise machines to baby carrier wraps and more.
Looking Ahead
Launching with Hushabye and Jacob’s Hope is just the beginning. We look forward to expanding to additional nurseries and hospitals in more areas of the country as funding becomes available. We are also in the process of developing additional courses to serve caregivers of toddlers and school age children. In the future, we hope to be able to offer all of this content to caregivers across the country.
Funded by Individual Donors
This work is possible thanks to your support! At this time, this program is funded exclusively by individual donors like you. Thank you for all you do to support opioid-exposed children and their families.
