WELCOME TO GENERATION O

EAST TENNESSEE

The eastern part of Tennessee continues to experience the highest case rate of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). In fact, Tennessee NAS rates have been significantly higher than the national average since 2013 when tracking began. It's also important to remember that not all opioid-exposed babies get a diagnosis of NAS at birth. There are many more opioid-exposed babies than these statistics capture.

All babies exposed to opioids during pregnancy can experience changes to the structure and function of their fetal brains, leading to long term outcomes. An NAS diagnosis, or lack of one, does not predict the likelihood or severity of lifelong consequences.

WHO IS GENERATION O?

We are an alliance of moms, dads, grandparents and other caregivers, who came together to change the future for our kids. We started this organization because we were given the honor of raising opioid-exposed children, but were given very few tools to do it. We are determined to help parents and kids affected by opioids thrive by equipping them with support, education, and friendship along the way.
